    Dan Ziman, is a director of product marketing at TIBCO Software

Faced with the challenge of how to drive registrations and measure the flow of new visitors to an unknown, online publication, TIBCO Software needed to find a creative, grass-roots strategy to deliver list building and site traffic goals on limited budget. Recognizing the emergence of social networks, Dan Ziman, director of product marketing at TIBCO, created “Greg the Architect”, an award-winning B2B online campaign, which has flipped the online media advertising model on its head. “Greg” is a fun, humorous, “tell it like it is“ satire aimed at IT architects (a key target audience for TIBCO Software and many other software firms). Through word-of-mouth, the videos proved to be so popular that leading online editors and bloggers promoted it on their sites leading to a flow of new visitors to SOANowJournal.com - a publication that delivers thought leadership about service-oriented architecture (SOA). Since the campaign’s launch, SOANow site traffic has increased from a few visitors a day to hundreds per week, and subscriptions grew by 400% in the first 60 days.

At this session, Dan will provide a summary of how B2C marketers influenced his strategy, how it turned viral and how it was measured. The case study includes real-world examples, ideas for harnessing social media for B2B direct marketing, your online reputation, and community development.
