Gregory J. Sater

Greg Sater, a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School, represents clients involved in direct response television and radio advertising, e-commerce, online marketing, and other forms of electronic retailing, as well as clients in the entertainment field, in connection with their business contracts, their corporate matters, their compliance with false advertising laws, their trademarks, trade dress, trade secrets, patents, copyrights, and other forms of intellectual property and the protection of such assets, and, when it is necessary, litigation involving them.

In terms of litigation, in addition to jury trials, Greg has briefed and argued precedent-setting cases before the California Supreme Court and other courts of


appeal. Also, on a pro bono basis, acting as a volunteer prosecutor for the City of Los Angeles, he has secured guilty verdicts in criminal jury trials involving handguns, domestic violence, assault, and battery, and has been instrumental in several public interest lawsuits against the federal government seeking to protect habitat for endangered species on public lands.

A regular contributor to Electronic Retailer and Response magazines, Greg serves on the Ethics Committee and the Government Affairs Committee of the Electronic Retailing Association. He is a past chair of the American Bar Association’s Special Committee on Promotion and Marketing Law, Trademark Section, and regularly speaks about intellectual property and other legal issues at recurring industry events as well as on the radio.

Greg graduated from Stanford University (B.A., Human Biology, with distinction) in 1988 and received his law degree from Harvard Law School (J.D., cum laude) in 1991. He is admitted to the State Bar of California and is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
